Stak

Your money, made clear.

Know what you've earned, what you've spent, and what's left before your next pay — in a budget that follows your payday, not the calendar month. Made in New Zealand, for New Zealand.

What Stak Does

The whole picture, without the spreadsheet

Most budgeting apps are built for a calendar month and an overseas tax system. Stak is built for how New Zealanders actually get paid — and what they actually owe.

Built around your pay cycle

Weekly, fortnightly or monthly — Stak follows the day you actually get paid, not the calendar month. So “what's left before payday” means exactly that.

A Tax Stash for the self-employed

Contracting or side-gigging? Stak sets aside a portion of every payment, tracks your deductible expenses, and keeps your IRD money visibly separate from your spending money.*

Bills that turn up before they bite

Rent, power, broadband, insurance — see what's due next, in order, with a reminder before it lands. Confirm each one when it's paid, so your spending stays true.

Insight without the data entry

Where the money went, which categories are creeping up, which subscriptions renewed at a higher price.* Stak works it out from what you've already recorded.

Goals and sinking funds together

The trip, the emergency fund, and the annual rego bill live in one place — including the ones that come back every year.*

A money assistant that stays on your phone

Ask “how much can I spend this week?” and get an answer worked out on your device. Nothing leaves your phone unless you switch on the AI engine* and say yes.

A second look at odd charges

A double charge, a shop well above its usual, a subscription that quietly went up — Stak points them out so you can check.* Prompts to look, never accusations.

Reports your accountant can read

Export your transactions as a plain CSV, or an accountant-ready summary of money in and out over any period.* Yours to download and send on — no account needed at the other end.

* Stak Plus feature — see what Free and Plus each include.

Privacy

Your numbers stay yours

A budgeting app sees the most personal information you have. We treat that seriously — and we describe it accurately, rather than reassuringly.

  • Encrypted in transit and at rest. Your data travels over TLS and is stored on encrypted disks.
  • Your Tax Stash stays on your phone. It is never uploaded to us at all.
  • The assistant is on-device by default. The optional AI engine sends anonymised totals only — never your name, your bank, or individual transactions — and only after you turn it on.
  • We never sell your data, and Stak carries no advertising.
  • Delete it all, from inside the app. One tap removes your account and everything in it.

Talk to us

Stak is built by Velox Pi Limited, a New Zealand digital engineering studio. Found a bug, want a feature, or something doesn’t add up? Tell us what happened and we’ll come back to you within one business day. A person reads every message.

Please don't include passwords, bank details, or account numbers in your message — we never need them.

Stak is a budgeting and information tool. It shows you your own numbers and helps you plan with them. It is not a financial adviser, it does not provide financial advice, and it does not recommend financial products or providers.
